Container robbers hot on 3D printing

The potential long-term impact of 3D printing on the movement of goods in the supply chain has been studied in the industry for some time.

But now manufacturers and transport providers are being warned of how the criminal fraternity are using the same technology to help steal goods from containers.

They are now reported to be using 3D printers to make fake security seals. And, according to www.securingindustry.com, the cloned seals are so advanced they even match the identification numbers on the official seal.
