Construction starts on first manufacturing plant for RBIDZ

Construction has begun on the first manufacturing plant to be developed during Phase 1A of the Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ).

MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs in KwaZulu Natal, Michael Mabuyakhulu, officially opened construction at a ribbon cutting ceremony held earlier this week for the construction of  the Sizabantu Piping System (SPS) manufacturing plant.

SPS – in a joint venture with Spanish company, Molecor Canalizaciones – is investing R300 million in the project.  The new plant is set to manufacture a new technology bi-axle orientated PVC pressure pipe.

To date, the RBIDZ has attracted and signed investments to the value of R6.8 billion.
