On 17 April 2026, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) announced an increase in the ‘General’ rate of customs duty on conical steel drums, of steel, of a capacity of 210 litres or more but not exceeding 234 litres, classifiable in tariff subheading 7310.10.20 in Part 1 of Schedule No.1 of the Customs and Excise Act, 1964 (‘Ordinary Customs Duty’) from free of duty to 15% ad valorem.
