PRICE FORBES transport risk division have fully embraced the Internet to make their services more accessible to cargo owners, forwarders and operators.

Transportation Risk Management Services (TRMS) consists of 75 marine and transport specialists offering specific services for freight operators and cargo owners.

Headquartered in Johannesburg, TRMS is using Cargo Info Africa on the Internet to outline concepts aimed at reducing the cost of transportation risk.

TRMS has also made full use of the CI's Who's Who in Freight to introduce over 30 of their key staff to clients.

One concept outlined by TRMS on CI is managed, self-funded insurance. Here TRMS thoroughly analyses claim statistics and identifies the correct level of self insurance. To page 16 From page 1 The self-insurance mechanisms administered by the Price Forbes Group provide a vehicle to earn interest, accumulate surplus, formally fund commercial settlements, provide cover not normally found in the formal insurance market and control and manage the overall cost of risk.

TRMS can be found under the directory of Freight Service Providers on Cargo Info at http://rapidttp.com/cargo Cargo Info is a free service aimed at freight professionals in South Africa. It includes modules such as the most up-to-date schedules of over 50 shipping lines and a daily updated list of the lowest airfares out of South Africa provided by over 60 airlines.
