The Southern Africa Shippers Transport and Logistics Council (SASTALC) – as part of its mandate to increase its co-operation with industry and trade across South Africa’s borders – recently signed collaborative agreements with other shippers’ councils and industry bodies on the continent. “The global trade market sees Africa as one entity and we as a logistics industry need to start talking as ‘Africa’ to strengthen our competitiveness on the international stage,” said Etienne Cham Bama, deputy chief of operations, Cameroon Shippers’ Council, speaking at the official signing of the collaborative agreement with SASTALC last month. CEO of SASTALC, Brenda Horne Ferreira, commented: “It is now more important than ever for government and the private sector to work together. And if we, speak with one voice we will ensure that the reforms are to the benefit of the industry and the economic growth of the region.”
