Coega investor becomes SA’s second biggest truck exporter

First Automotive Works (FAW) – which invested R600m in an assembly plant in the Coega Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in 2014 – has become South Africa’s second largest truck exporter, after Volvo.

Following last week’s official release of its 2017 figures, FAW has jumped from fifth to second place as one of SA’s top truck exporters.

Fortune 500 company exported 212 units last year. “This validates the findings of an independent study on the Coega SEZ which found that 90% of operational investors described the SEZ and its logistics park as the ideal location for industries,” said Dr Ayanda Vilakazi, unit head: marketing, brand and communications at the Coega SEZ.
