Esteve Servajean has been
appointed general manager
CMA CGM Shipping Agency
South Africa responsible for
South Africa and the southern
Africa region.
He takes over from Arnaud
Thibault who has returned
to head office in Marseilles
as deputy vice president for
African Lines.
After completing his studies
and serving as an officer in
the French merchant navy,
Servajean joined CMA CGM
in 2002, starting in operations
and subsequently moving into
sales.
He has held several overseas
positions, having headed up the
North Africa service for three
years, spent a term in Brazil
and later in Algeria as MD.
Based at head office in
Marseilles for the past 18
months, he was responsible for
the agency network for Africa
and the Indian Ocean.
The line has seen significant
growth over the past few
years, he told FTW. “In
2010 we were ranked at
number 12. By the end of
2013 we were the fourth
largest shipping company in
South Africa.” And he expects
to see continued growth in the
years to come.
The South African
market, he says, is becoming
increasingly important for
the line, particularly because
it is a predominantly reefer
market. It is the regional
headquarters of CMA CGM’s
African division and covers
Mozambique, Namibia,
Malawi, Zambia and
Zimbabwe.
