The Citrus Growers’ Association (CGA) has urged citrus producers to attend roadshows across the country covering information on the False Codling Moth Risk Management System (FMS) to ensure they comply with new European Union (EU) regulations to be implemented next year.
According to CGA CEO Justin Chadwick, compliance with the FMS will be mandatory in 2018 and non-compliant producers will not be able to export fruit to the EU.
Presentations at the roadshows will cover why the FMS is being introduced, the alternatives should the FMS not work, what producers need to do in order to be compliant, and how it would be carried out in terms of registrations, documentation and other administration.
The roadshows will be held until October 31 and enquiries can be directed to info@cga.co.za.
