Citrus growers who have not already done so, have missed the December 16 deadline to check that their details for registration for special markets (EU, Japan, S Korea, USA, China etc) are correct. That’s according to Citrus Growers’ Association CEO Justin Chadwick who pointed out that this was an extremely important process. “Failure to have the correct details will mean citrus exports to those markets for that PUC (orchard number) will be prohibited,” he said in a statement posted on the website. Registration of production units (and for some markets – orchards) is a requirement in many protocols and regulations, he explained. “This allows DAFF to target resources in terms of inspection of orchards prepared for export to different markets.” Chadwick stressed that it was crucial that this registration was 100% correct.
