WARDENS CARTAGE has capped a successful business spell in the past few years with an award and membership of the Swiss-based Foundation for Excellence in Business Practice (FEBP). According to the transport manager Nicholas Naidoo, the award to the long haul transporter of liquids and breakbulk into southern African countries recognises the excellence of its business model and consistent growth over the past five years. In addition, the Foundation acknowledged the leadership skills of the CEO, Bala Naidoo. “Although it is a family business, we run it along strict business lines and the award recognises this,” he said. Wardens recently acquired five freightliners to add to its fleet that services routes within South Africa as well as Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland and Malawi. Longhauls comprise 75% of its business. The BEE company has been a transporter of liquid bulk in South Africa for the past 25 years and is accredited to international Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) standards by Sasol. “We place high priority on the education and training of our drivers so that they’re able to meet their responsibilities when transporting dangerous liquid loads,” said Naidoo. The company is also part of a niche group of HSSE audited and approved Transporters for the Petroleum and Chemical Industries in South Africa.
