Mediterranean Shipping
Company will challenge
Maersk Line’s position as
the world’s biggest ocean
carrier over the coming four
years with the biggest order
book for new vessels. That’s
according to industry analyst
Alphaliner’s latest Cellular
Fleet Forecast report, based
on the order book as at 1
September 2013.
“With new orders totalling
572 000 TEUs since 2009,
Swiss-based MSC will narrow
the gap with Maersk Line,”
according to the Alphaliner
report. The analyst expects
the current top five carriers
to maintain their rankings
through September 2016.
