CFR’s airside facility adds flexibility

Last week marked a milestone for independent groupage operator CFR Freight with the opening of its airside facility at the new King Shaka International Airport in KwaZulu Natal. “It’s a significant move for us with major benefits for our customers,” general manager – airfreight, Dave Graham told FTW. “It allows for later collections and earlier deliveries and gives us more time to build our consolidations. “It also allows us the flexibility to route directly out of Durban, or to truck to Johannesburg and co-load with our Gauteng customers.” The idea will be piloted at KSIA with the possible option of going airside in other national centres, he said. In a separate development, Karen Schoeman has been appointed airfreight manager in Cape Town. This appointment completes the company’s airfreight management team, with dedicated airfreight managers in place in all main centres.
