There are big plans in the pipeline for independent NVOCC CFR Freight in Gauteng. In line with its vision to take its service offering to the next level with the roll-out of its ZacPak facilities countrywide, the company is set to further streamline operational procedures by consolidating its entire operation in one location on the East Rand. The first ZacPak facility was launched in Cape Town in 2010. The customs-licensed container depot offers groupage packing and unpacking services to the freight forwarding industry – and with its own f leet of port vehicles, it provides customers with the “complete package”. A Durban facility was launched late last year, with Johannesburg due to come on stream in December this year. The ZacPak depots enable the company to offer a f lexible all-in package, said CFR director Peter Schmidt-Löff ler. The planned opening of ZacPak Johannesburg is however part of a much bigger revamp of the company’s Gauteng facilities. Air and sea operations as well as ZacPak will operate under one roof from new premises in Jet Park. “The move makes sense,” said Schmidt-Löff ler. “Being on the East Rand which is strategically located to facilitate speedier deliveries, collections and releases, it’s also where most of our customers – the clearing and forwarding agents – are based. And they will ultimately be the biggest winners. INSERT & CAPTION Air and sea operations as well as ZacPak will operate under one roof from new premises in Jet Park. – Peter Schmidt-Löffler
