CFR Freight has been voted
‘Best Worldwide Partner’
by the Air Cargo Group, the
global network of neutral
airfreight consolidators of
which CFR is the South
African representative and
board member.
The accolade was handed
over to recently appointed
airfreight director Dave
Graham at the annual Air
Cargo Group conference held
in Bali earlier this month,
attended by some 80 delegates
from around the world.
Chairman of ACG,
Christos Spyrou, said that
CFR had taken the award by
a large majority.
“It’s a gratifying tribute
that comes as CFR’s airfreight
division celebrates its best
year ever,” said Graham.
“A little over two years
ago, airfreight was a
fledgling division within
CFR.
“We have since put a lot
of products together and
introduced new processes
and systems.
“On the import side
we’ve introduced some
very competitive products.
That’s where the growth has
come from – and we’re not
stopping there. We will be
placing serious emphasis on
Germany this year along with
the USA,” he told FTW.
“We will also continue to
build on our existing products
– and rather than increase
the number of pallets moving
per named-day consol we’re
looking to increase the
number and frequency of
named-day services.”
A good example, he says,
is Germany. “We started in
September with a weekly
consol and that’s already
up to twice a week and we
envisage that going to three
times a week shortly. We’ve
also seen huge response to
our Los Angeles product.”
Part of that success, said
Graham, comes from the
partnerships formed with the
muscular network of agents
in the Air Cargo Group.
“We believe that 2011 was
one of the toughest airfreight
years ever – and if we were
able to do as well as we did
in that kind of environment,
we’re confident of further
growth in the year ahead.”
