CFR doubles Ghana frequencies

The major SA groupage operator, CFR Freight, has reacted to a rapidly growing trade market in Ghana by increasing the frequency of its sailings to the country’s largest seaport. Tema, on the Atlantic coast and located just 25 kilometres east of the national capital, Accra, is enjoying a trade surge in mining equipment and general goods, according to CFR export route development manager, Susanne Hatesohl. “We have therefore improved our service to the port, moving to a weekly sailing from the previous two-weekly frequency,” she told FTW. “Since we first launched this service it has been running very well. With the now weekly sailing we hope to increase our volumes considerably.” And the market growth is purely in cargoes directly bound for Ghana, she added, with some 95% for internal consumption. CFR has sea and airfreight offices in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. It is a partner in the WorldWide Alliance which brings together neutral NVOCCs round the globe, providing seamless international transportation solutions – all under one umbrella – and now offering in excess of 1 500 direct LCL export services.
