Page 1 His African Rainbow Expedition is currently driving overland to Pemba in northern Mozambique, where it will board an old Arab dhow to sail to remote villages along the East African coast. The journey, by a small team that includes his wife Jill and son Ross, who does the filming, will take about a year before ending near the Kenya/Somali border. During this time they will distribute 10 000 mosquito nets impregnated with mosquito repellent plus other anti malaria material to people who seldom see medical care. One of the principal sponsors of the odyssey is the Grindrod Group, which has given the project its full backing. “It’s a tragedy that a person should die every minute of every day and night from malaria when it is avoidable and curable,” said Ivan Clark, Grindrod MD. “Our slogan is ‘One Net One Life’ and supporting malaria prevention falls squarely into Grindrod’s social responsibility policy.”
