Carriers and shippers lose confidence in global alliances

A report from Lloyds List said that the new-style global alliances between ocean carriers are not delivering the anticipated intended benefits for either member lines or their customers.

“That,” it added, “is the growing realisation of box lines and shippers and forwarders”, as the container shipping industry has concentrated into four major oceangoing groups.
