Cargo theft boom in UK and the Netherlands

Cargo theft in Britain more than doubled in the first quarter, according to the Transported Asset Protection Association (Tapa).

Its Incident Information Service (IIS) recorded 70 cargo thefts, up 133% year-on-year.

The Netherlands, meantime, had 69 incidents of theft, a 17% increase, in the three months to the end of March.

The two countries accounted for 67% of the 206 freight thefts, or attempted thefts, recorded by Tapa over the reporting period.
