THERE ARE some big changes to Cargo Info Africa, FTW's sister publication on the internet, designed to make it more informative and user-friendly. Apologies go out to regular users, who have been disturbed by the interim changes in their regular search routines. But the whole of Now Media's computer operating system is new - and the systems are being upgraded to make them compatible, and to meet a user demand for more flexible and accurate information. The changes have been most noticeable in the schedule layouts - but are designed to offer more information, more easily. The web site, for example, now allows you to search on a port-to-port basis - limit the search by line - or see all the data for a particular route. You can also obtain all the agent contact details directly from the schedule and even send an e-mail from the same screen. The old schedule system was very limited in scope, but the new web site allows you to search for the full import information you need. An exciting part of the new system is designed to cut back on the amount of "surfing" that users will need to do. It's a subscription e-mail access that directly sends you the detail you want, up to twice a week, ensuring that your info is always up-to-date. For the larger company - requiring data rather than headline info - there will shortly be another subscription system. This will see tailored data formats imported directly into the user's system. No time wasted on information recapture and costed against how much you need to know. A word to shipping lines and ships agents. Why waste all that time and trouble sending clients your schedules? The Cargo Info schedule system is just bursting with that same info, and can act as a cost-effective distributor for you, sending your clients only what they need to see. The changes are still being made, but just be patient, the end result will be what you want to know, when you want to know it. "Easifinder" means just that. Easy, isn't it?
