RECOGNISING THE increased demand for car-carrying containers, UK-based Trans-Rak International has signed a 10-year agreement with CIMC, the Chinese container manufacturer. In terms of the deal Trans-Rak containers will be produced on a newly built production line at CIMC, with an initial capacity of 10 000 units per year. CMA CGM recently took delivery of its first batch of 200 40ft carcarrying containers. The container operator has now extended this order to an on-going purchasing programme. Trans-Rak is a retractable car transport system fitted inside a container. The frame can be wound up into the roof void of a container, clearing it for other cargo.
