RAY SMUTS STRONG WIND and rain hampered Cape Town container terminal operations at the weekend while vessel bunching delayed two vessels, the Safmarine Ratulangi and Umfolozi, for 37 and 31 hours respectively. Terminal planning manager David Davids told FTW a three hour wind stoppage became necessary on Sunday night as a result of wind blowing in excess of 80km/h and that the sailings of two in-port vessels, Evergreen General and Orion, had consequently been delayed for the same period.
