C-BRTA to launch new digital permit application system

The Cross-border Road Transport Agency (C-BRTA) is aiming to have a new management system launched by the end of September that will enable hauliers to apply for permits remotely.

A notice distributed by the Transit Assistance Bureau says the primary goal is to facilitate a better customer experience.

“With the soon-to-be launched system, called Cross-Easy, the C-BRTA can assure you that the days of having to be at the Agency’s offices physically to apply for cross-border permits are over.”

According to the notice Cross-Easy will manifest in the following benefits:

  • Verification of customs and tax compliance
  • Verification of vehicle roadworthiness and registration
  • Payment of permit application fees by either debit or credit card
  • Verification of business credentials and registration details
  • Monitoring the status of permit applications
  • Sending SMS updates on the status of permit applications
  • Applying for or renewing permits from anywhere, any time
  • Embedded electronic signatures with no actual signing of any application necessary
  • Uploading of required documentation
  • Easy digital platform accessibility across all devices
  • Online customer assistance
  • Virtual management of queues through a related online system

The C-BRTA said it was in the final stages of developing Cross-Easy.

It added that the actual launch date for Cross-Easy would be communicated at a later stage.

It asked the transport industry to accept the development as it believed it would improve efficiency across the cross-border road freight sector.
