Bulk exports through the ports of Maputo and Beira will continue to grow, believes Athol Emerton, managing director of LBH Mozambique. “In Maputo we have had a great working relationship with MPDC for decades now. “Through this we are able to meet the growing needs of South African exporters using the Maputo corridor. “At the current global coal price, the corridor is probably a challenge for coal exporters, but we are confident the commodity will return in the coming,” he says. Emerton is also bullish about prospects for Beira. “I think our bulk exports out of Beira will grow steadily. “Coal is moving and we are seeing potential for bulk Zimbabwean minerals on the Beira Corridor. “LBH is very active developing ways to unlock these resources. We have put together some bespoke logistics management packages for the route which considerably reduce the perception of risks relating to the corridor.
