Development will help M&L Inspectorate to develop new product lines
BRITISH STANDARDS Institution (BSI), the UK-based equivalent of the SABS, has purchased the local M & L Inspec-torate and worldwide operations of Inspectorate PLC.
Under the terms of the purchase Inspectorate's name will be retained within the BSI Group along with all current management team and staff.
This move is likely to position M&L Inspecto-rate as part of a world-leading organisation in the combined fields of commodity inspection, analysis, product compliance testing and quality management systems certification, according to Jeff Luesley, chief executive of Inspectorate PLC.
BSI is now regarded as one of the world's leading standards and quality services organisations. It was founded in 1901 and incorporated under Royal Charter in 1929. It is also the oldest standard-making body anywhere, and operates as a non-profit-making company that remains totally independent of government, industry and trade associations, while serving both the public and private sectors. BSI also represents the UK interests across the full scope of European and international standards committees.
The company led the world in developing the Quality Management Standard and Environ-ment Management Systems known as ISO 9000 and 14000 respectively. Over 130 000 organisations worldwide have now adopted ISO 9000 as an integral part of their international trading.
This new development will enable M&L Inspec-torate to develop new product lines such as product compliance testing and quality management systems certification, including training towards and certification of ISO 9000, ISO14000 and project management. Existing product lines, services and locations are to remain the same.
