Project cargo remains one of
the most viable sectors in
Botswana where major efforts
are under way to diversify the
economy.
According to Kevin Lees of
Botswana-based Truckhire,
the focus on developing and
diversifying the mining industry
extensively in the next few years
opens many opportunities in the
project sector.
“While there is a major focus
to move more cargo via rail there
are still many opportunities for
transporters. Road and rail are
not in competition and as we
move toward a more intermodal
transport solution the ongoing
projects and developments are
good news for the future.”
He said the large investments
in coal and other mining along
with the investment in rail
infrastructure would provide longterm
benefits for all.
