Bosal develops export hub in SA

BOSAL AFRIKA, the global automotive component manufacturer, has decided to increase productivity at its Pretoria plant in order to move into the export market. The company is currently transferring part of its production from plants in Europe and North America to South Africa because of improved price competitiveness of its local plants. This was announced in Pretoria last week by Karel Bos jnr, Bosal's group chief executive who with his father, Karel Bos snr, chairman of the Bosal board, was on a visit to this country as part of Bosal's 50th anniversary celebrations. The transfer of stainless steel exhaust system components production started last October, said Bos jnr because the fall in the rand's value internationally last year created improved competitiveness. Now products will be shipped in a semi-finished state from this country to Bosal plants overseas for final assembly. The first Bosal plant for the manufacture of exhaust systems in this country was established in Pretoria in 1952.
