The recent visit to this country by BDP International sales director, Ken Wentzel, has confirmed that the recently organised alliance with Turners Shipping would see Turners operating not as an agent, but equivalent to BDP’s owned branches around the world. He saidTurners and BDP were a perfect fit – due to the organisations being privately-owned, both having similar corporate cultures and both being specialists in the shipping of petrochemicals. With “hazchem” shipments composing 80% of BDP’s worldwide cargo movements, he also saw Turners Shipping being ideally placed to provide service and expertise to BDP cargoes into sub-Saharan Africa. At the same time, Turners Shipping’s national operations director, Blain Kondiah, said that the company’s new alliance partner was providing full access for Turner clients to BDP’s strategic global network. Clients would also benefit from full access to the BDP information technology (IT) infrastructure, keeping them constantly notified about the progress of their shipments, he said.
