THE LAUNCH of a new portable trellis-style barrier on wheels has added an element of flexibility to this security device. Trellidor’s Access Guard can be quickly and easily moved from one location to another, then expanded or contracted to fit the space, indicating ‘no-go’ areas for safety reasons or in order to separate out a section of the warehouse awaiting special treatment such as bar coding. “Access Guard is a multi-use product ideal for controlling access to designated areas or directing the movement of employees in the materials handling industry,” Trellicor Group brand manager Charlene Botha told FTW. “For example, if a section of a warehouse is used to store hazardous materials, Access Guards could be positioned around this area to prevent accidental contact or contamination.” Each unit has six wheels, three with brakes so that the barrier can be safely ‘locked’ into position. If desired, drop bolts can provide stability when dropped into floor recesses. These barriers require no fixed installation, and two handles ensure ease of movement. A stack latch holds the unit in the closed position when moving it around. “Access Guard is ideal for limiting access to the public when doors have to be kept open – for example in warehouses where the roller shutters are kept open for the day’s deliveries,” said Botha. “They can be erected to guard against supplies being mistakenly packed or shipped and are also ideal for warehouses that unpack and store imported goods for customers until delivery is requested, where they could cordon off that customer’s merchandise.” Manufactured by security barrier specialists Trellidor at their ISO-audited factory, Access Guards can be purchased from any Trellidor franchise. Stock is readily available in the standard size of 3500mm wide by 2000mm high.
