BA to launch direct Durban flights

October 29 will see the launch by British Airways of a three-times-a-week direct flight from London Heathrow’s Terminal 5 to Durban.

A Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner will operate on the route - the only non-stop link between Europe and Durban.

The flights are expected to add to the increasing volumes of cargo handled at the Dube Cargo Terminal.

The MEC of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Sihle Zikalala, said that international cargo volumes through Dube Cargo Terminal had increased 138% since 2010.

“In the 2017/218 financial year cargo growth reached 12%,” he said.
