BRITISH AIRWAYS World Cargo (BAWC) has added a new intra-Europe express service following a link-up with DHL’s short-haul European freighter programme. The new schedule started on October 24 and is expected to have a significant impact on cargo to and from South Africa. It offers customers faster connections and increased capacity on a number of key routes, according to a BAWC spokesman. A streamlined security process for cargo booked by ‘known shippers’ from mainland Europe will result in speedier transit times for transhipment cargo at the airline’s London hub. BAWC now operates 20 services per week between London and key European hubs in Frankfurt, Bergamo (Milan), Brussels, Amsterdam, Munich, Paris and Hamburg, with a new connection to and from Dublin. On key long-haul routes, like Johannesburg and Cape Town, BAWC can now offer a ‘same day’ service with flights that arrive at the hub during the morning.
