AVIAIR FREIGHT Logistics has acquired a stake in freight wholesaler Cosmotrans, offering the wholesaler's clients access to its charter capabilities. Cosmotrans will however continue to operate independently, offering wholesale services and rates to the general freight agent market. “South African freight volumes are forecast to increase substantially by the year 2010,” says Cosmotrans MD John Diviani. “Our alignment with Aviair will ensure that Cosmotrans is ideally positioned to take advantage of this growth and provide an improved service to customers. The deal has been finalised and it is business as usual for our clients who are already enjoying the benefits of the alliance.” Aviair are general freight and charter brokers with more than 12 years experience in the freight industry. “Aviair was looking at ways of expanding its service offering into the growing African export market. The association with Cosmotrans was a logical development,” said Aviair MD Tomi Novak. In March Cosmotrans moved its Johannesburg operation to Aeroport Park near OR Tambo International Airport.
