IT’S TOO late for this year, but perhaps South African Airways can learn from its Austrian counterpart for the next general election. Voting in the air for its president is part of the service national carrier Austrian Airlines will offer Austrian citizens on April 25, the date of that country’s of the presidential elections. That’s as long as they have with them the card that allows voting in places other than their voting centre, reports Reuters. “The voting procedure must take place outside Austrian airspace,” the airline said in a statement last week. “Our stewards will happily serve as voting witnesses.” Austrian has offered voting facilities during previous national and presidential elections, and although not all passengers voted, the airline saw it as a little extra that added to the service.
