COPENHAGEN-BASED APM Terminals, part of the Danish AP M¿ller Maersk group, and one of the key contenders for concessioning of the Port of Durban, has revealed plans to relocate its head office to the Netherlands in January. According to a report in Lloyd’s List, a decision has not been reached on the exact location but Rotterdam is the favoured destination. A desire to move closer to its clients, the global shipping lines, is the reason for the decision, and the Netherlands is seen as the hub of international maritime trade. The subsidiary stressed that its departure from Denmark would not signal a mass exodus of other parts of the shipping empire, the report stated.
