Annual agri trade show goes virtual

With South Africa’s lockdown and ban on mass events still in place, Grain SA has confirmed that this year’s Nampo Cape Agricultural trade show will be a virtual event.

According to a Grain SA statement, the final decision was set to be announced at the end of July but all stakeholders had agreed that the decision had to be made sooner to avoid the possible cancellation of the show at short notice.

“Nampo Cape has been a hugely successful agricultural event in the Overberg for the past two years, but the Covid-19 pandemic has forced the whole world to find newer and more innovative ways to do business. At present, there is no indication what the situation and legislation will be around mass events in September, and the Nampo Cape management cannot reduce or completely mitigate visitor risk in any way,” the statement read.

The show will run for four consecutive days from 9-12 September.
