“Africa is definitely looking up. This year we had a significant increase in exports to Africa, especially Angola,” says Lorraine Franck of Sebenza. Approximately 70% of Sebenza’s exports are into Africa and the market dictates that the next major destination will be the DRC. Nigeria is also seen as a growing market with endless opportunities but also big risks due to alleged corruption. “Our biggest challenge has been sourcing a reliable African network, which we have managed to accomplish. Our agents are prominent in their regions and we are fortunate that they are able to protect us from any operational challenges that may surface. With many of the African countries speaking either French or Portuguese, Sebenza had to take steps to overcome this barrier.” Franck notes. “The majority of our export clients trade in capital expenditure, with approximately 70% of cargo being sourced from Europe and USA. The global economic trend in Europe has not significantly affected our export business, and we expect our figures to continue improving.” Franck concludes.
Angola, the DRC and Nigeria major targets
