A collaborative effort by ID Verification
Systems (IVS) and Airlink Cargo has
seen the creation the IVS Logistics
System which offers a range of features
from air waybill creation, barcoding
and manifesting to track and trace and
customer interfacing.
The system was developed by IVS
while Airlink Cargo participated as the
testing organisation.
“IVS has further developed systems
such as an Integrated Airline Catering
Management System and an Order
Movement Tracking System to cater
for the airline-specific needs of Airlink
Cargo,” said IVS director, Marius van
Jaarsveld.
“The need for sharing of information
throughout the supply chain is a
strong trend in the freight industry
and electronic tracking and mobile
workforces are key to providing a
competitive service,” said Airlink Cargo
CEO, Alwyn Rautenbach. In line with
this trend, systems providing an all-inone
electronic solution from A-Z are
currently in high demand, said Van
Jaarsveld.
“Industry decision-makers are open
to new systems that provide detailed
reports on status updates, accounting
information and the like,” he added.
“Instead of using two or three different
systems clients are now moving towards
all-in-one electronic solutions that offer
them all they need while keeping costs
down. Mobile apps have become an
everyday sight, with operational staff
having easy access while on the go. They
are the most affordable and effective way
to reach out to customers nowadays.”
IVS director Stephen Bracher says
that electronic solutions have come
to provide prescriptive analytics to
the industry which allows managers
in the supply chain to stay up to
date with current operations in their
workplace, allowing them to manage
more effectively than before. “Predictive
analytics software will soon become a
major trend, helping the industry access
future development and risks involved.”
