'All in' southbound service offers time definite option

A NEW PRODUCT known as the 'all in' southbound service, is now available from Luxembourg on Swiss Global Cargo (SGC) services to South Africa. It includes features such as a time definite option with no weight or size restrictions, Europe to Johannesburg in 2-3 days, all in door-to-door cost, and partial rebate for service failures. Panalpina's ownership of SGC will ensure air capacity for this service, says Renfreight's director air operations Dave Logan. He warns that with air freight space declining due to the withdrawal of several carriers from the South African route, capacity will become more and more difficult to obtain unless the forwarder has contracts in place with scheduled carriers. SGC operates to South Africa from its Luxembourg hub, leasing aircraft from Cargolux, Martinair, Atlas Air and Hydro Air. This provides a charter service three days a week to Johannesburg, known as Rainbow Express, with an additional service planned for Tuesdays. Northbound requirements are also catered for with blocked space arrangements on all major carriers.
