Airtime adamant on launch

Despite a recent
Department of Transport
statement warning
consumers against booking
on Durban-based low-cost
carrier Airtime Airlines,
the airline is adamant it
will be launching flights
imminently, according to
TravelHub.
A well-placed source
says the airline plans
to launch flights in
conjunction with
Air Quarius.
A DoT spokesperson
said the airline would
not be allowed to operate
flights until permission
had been granted by the
Air Services Licensing
Council which is to meet
on February 18.
"It is unlikely an
extraordinary meeting will
be called before then to
deal with Airtime Airlines'
licensing issue in light
of the fact that they have
been marketing the airline
under that name and selling
tickets before having even
been granted a licence,"
said the DoT spokesperson.
