LEONARD NEILL AIR NAMIBIA has appointed Kosmos Egumbo as managing director. He takes up his position on December 1. The 38-year old Egumbo has a BSc degree in electrical engineering and has held senior management positions in various business sectors. He is presently based in Botswana as the international expert and programme co-ordinator of German development agency GTZ. He was among eight candidates head-hunted by the airline after the Namibian government - owners of Air Namibia - had rejected the first set of candidates the board of directors had recommended. Air Namibia’s acting chairman Leake Hangala said after the announcement that the search for a new MD had been ‘comprehensive and consultative’. “Our objective was to get the best Namibian for the job, and we have succeeded.”
