Virgin postpones delivery of Airbus

Virgin Atlantic is postponing delivery of its first Airbus A380 superjumbo by four years, giving the planemaker time to sort out problems encountered in wiring the mammoth planes, according to Reuters. Virgin said it still intended to take delivery of all six of the USD$300 million planes it has on order, but now would not see its first one until 2013.

China adds another 747-400
China Airlines has taken delivery of its 20th Boeing 747-400 freighter. The carrier operates the world’s largest 747-400F fleet, according to eyefortransport.com Boeing projects growth of Asian air cargo markets will continue to lead the world with the domestic Chinese and intra-Asian markets expanding by 10.8% and 8.6% per year, respectively.

JIA officially renamed
Johannesburg International Airport was officially renamed OR Tambo International Airport last Friday (October 27).
