Agents sign up for Security 108 compliance programme

Professional Aviation Training (PAT), the partnership of Global Trade Training and Professional Aviation Services, is now fully geared to meet industry demands in all aspects of airline security, says GTT’s Charles Dey. The partnership has been awarded Aviation Training Organisation (ATO) accreditation and approval by the South African Civil Aviation Authority. Its application to Iata for registration as an Authorised Training College has also been approved. “PAT is thus fully accredited to meet industry’s training requirements for Dangerous Goods Training in Categories 1 to 12.” Part 108 security regulations must be implemented by February 2009. Agents need to take the necessary steps to become Regulated Agents and to assist consignors to become Known Consignors in terms of the regulations, says Dey. The regulations cover international and domestic air cargo. Professional Aviation (trading as Professional Risk & Asset Management) has signed up a number of agents on its Part 108 compliance programme in recent months. In order to meet the demands of industry in Durban and KwaZulu Natal, the joint venture has appointed Denver Wright as its KZN branch manager.
