Buoyed by strong growth last
year, Durban-based One Take
Logistics is on the expansion
path, with plans to open an
office in Johannesburg.
This follows the opening of a
Cape Town branch earlier this
year, says operations manager
Preston Pillay. “We are
working on a number of major
cross-border projects, including
one around the Kariba Dam
in Zimbabwe, so our growth
outlook is very positive,” he says.
According to Pillay, the
company’s growth last year
was largely on the back of
an increased demand for
transporting goods into
neighbouring landlocked
countries.
Aside from shipping mining
equipment to copper mines in
Zambia, the company moved
a large shipment of cosmetics
from China, agricultural
equipment and machinery to
Zimbabwe, pharmaceuticals
and medical equipment to
Malawi and personal effects to
Botswana.
“Our logistics service
offering is diverse – ranging
from clearance services
and road bond facilities to
transportation of groupage
cargo, full loads, door-to-door
services and hazardous cargo
to project cargo – which means
we can meet a variety of needs.
This keeps us competitive
during tough economic times,”
said Pillay.
The company is considering
opening branches in
neighbouring countries to
better meet its cross-border
clients’ needs.
Growth has come
from an increased
demand for
transporting goods
overborder.
