Afri-Haul restructures

TOP BRACKET management restructuring by Afri-Haul, the cross-border transport company, has resulted in what new m.d. Richard Dalton describes as 'combined team work to drive the company into the next century.'
Dalton adds the m.d. portfolio to that of financial director which he has held for the past four years. Luis da Silva, the marketing director, now takes on the additional cap of operations director. The pair are satisfied that their close co-operation and interweaving of operations is producing the results.
In addition Ken Whitson, a former colleague of Da Silva, has been brought on board with his many years of cross-border transport experience as regional operations manager.
We have been enjoying increased loads and traffic through greater efficiency and productivity in our new approach, says Da Silva. Traffic has shown a marked increase to Zambia and Democratic Republic of the Congo, and even Malawi and Mozambique have shown upward trends.
The take-over by Anglo-American of the mining sector in Zambia is almost certain to provide us with greater loads in the new year.
Afri-Haul, working through Kabwe Transport International, operates a vast fleet of radio-controlled vehicles to these southern African countries.
There is even good news that a second pontoon is to be introduced at Kazangula in the New Year, says Dalton. The existing one is rather slow, and that represents the only hold-up in our otherwise steady flow of traffic in all directions these days.
