Opening wide range of new logistics options Kevin Mayhew AIRLINE CARGO Resources (ACR) has become a contender as a GSSA with the opening of its Windhoek office in the southern industrial area near Eros Airport. Jeff Gaitskill, Cape Town-based senior general manager, says the company made the move because it recognised the huge potential of the Namibian market. “At present we are in the initial stages of launching the products we represent to the market. ACR has been appointed GSSA for Das Air Cargo in Namibia as well as the cold chain product, Envirotainer, which is predicted to be well received in Namibia with its extreme temperatures all year round,” he explained. The office will be headed up by Alex Sinclair who has vast experience in the Namibian market, having previously worked for a freight agency. Das Air Cargo, which operates out of Johannesburg with a fleet of DC10F freighters into Africa, the Middle East and Far East, is an excellent selling tool for the Namibian market, says Gaitskill. Using Envirotainer’s climate-controlled containers will prove a winner in Namibia for its pharmaceutical and perishable traffic into and out of the desert city of Windhoek, he said. “With such high temperatures experienced in Namibia, this product is likely to be well received by all. “The Namibian market has huge potential. Since there is limited capacity directly out of Namibia, by moving the cargo to Johannesburg we can open up another successful opportunity to all on the Trans Kalahari Corridor.”
