ALAN PEAT AFTER NEGOTIATIONS which started in June, Pam Yerushalmy, SA GM of CMA-CGM has confirmed to FTW on behalf of the line’s head office that the acquisition of Delmas has been completed. “CMA CGM is now ranked in 3rd position world-wide as a container liner operator,” she said. Through its takeover of the French shipping company Delmas – previously owned 100% by the Bollore Group – CMA-CGM has also acquired interests in the line’s subsidiaries. It now has the UK’s Otal, 100% held by Delmas; Italy’s Linea Setremar (80% Delmas and 20% Setremar); and a half share in SudCargos (50%/50% split between Delmas and Ste Nationale Corse Mediterranee). It also owns all the Delmas vessels, containers and the line’s HQ in Le Havre, and becomes a partner with Bollore in its West African logistics operations and agencies. “Delmas is a recognised specialist in Africa,” said CMA-CGM chief executive and vice-president, Rodolphe Saade, “and brings CMA-CGM not only its 49 vessels and 140 000 containers, but also its strong experience and excellent reputation in transportation to-and-from West Africa.”
