International charters target Africa
ALAN PEAT
IN IT three-year lifespan Air Care Cargo (ACC) has secured a strong foothold in the highly competitive courier market. The company was established in 2003, partner Brian Hickson told FTW, with its focus on the domestic courier consolidation business as well as international charter services, but concentrating on Africa. “We have been successful in establishing a national courier consolidation business with branches in all major centres,” he said. “Servicing the smaller destinations is also part of the service offering. “This has resulted in the company having been successful in attracting both large influential courier players as valued partners in our business, and also winning valued support from the smaller players in the market.” Hickson suggested that the exponential growth of ACC was not only made possible by building solid personal relationships with customers, but also by recruiting experienced management and employees chiefly from the courier field. “This,” he added, “has enabled ACC to get to grips with individual customer needs within a very short space of time.” Asked to look in his crystal ball, Hickson said that, going forward, the company intended to grow its customer base by committing to a consistently high standard of service to selected and established players in this field. “We intend to support this by adding value to the service offering already in place,” he added. In ACC’s other product of charter services – globally, but chiefly into Africa - the company is structured to cater for, or to take delivery of a customer’s international freight directly from an airline and forward the cargo to its relevant destination for final clearance in that centre – be it in SA or elsewhere,” said Hickson.
