KEEPING AHEAD of customs changes and keeping customers in the loop is part and parcel of the service offered by software specialist Advanced Customs Solutions. “We are keeping in constant touch with SA Revenue Service regarding the implementation in October of the SAD 500,” says a company spokesman. “We have been holding meetings with the team leaders on the project and providing input on what the document should include – keeping our clients updated on the latest developments,” he said. ACS’s windows-based programme offers wide-ranging applications, from a fully fledged electronic tariff book to invoicing, management reports and port documents. “It allows the user to email any document directly from the software programme,” he said. “When developing the Harmonised Customs and Excise tariff book we tried to create something different and added features like the Harmonised explanatory notes, chemical inventory and a powerful word search engine.” ACS has offices in Durban and Johannesburg.
