A decade until we see bigger container ships

The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller (18 270 TEU) was the first mega vessel to take to the high seas in mid-2014.

While addressing overcapacity and ship sizes, a statement from Søren Skou, CEO of Maersk Line, said there was a limit to how big ships could become, according to Port Techology.

He added: “If you get bigger ships, you will have to sail less frequently to fill them, and that won’t meet our customers’ needs. Unless we start to see massive (economic) growth, it is going to be at least 10 years before bigger ships are seriously considered.”
