CURRENTLY REIGNING as acting CEO of Micor – a division of Super Group – is a far cry from the start of her career path, where Jenny Murphy handled forex in the Standard Bank. Compare that, she suggested, with being the top sales executive for Renfreight making record new business sales in excess of R2-million, for two consecutive years, 1997 and 1998, and setting a new record in the sales industry at that time. Or, Murphy added, being part of a team that won a Gold Award at the Logistic Achiever Awards evening with Safcor Panalpina. Two other memorable events were the re-branding of Safcor Panalpina, and currently being part of a very exciting company in Micor. Murphy’s path to the top has given her a wide portfolio of experience. Two years in banking followed by a move into the hi-tech industry – “a turning point in my career, because I handled all aspects of the supply chain and customs formalities.” Next move was into the freight liner industry, followed by clearing and forwarding where she has worked for some very strong, established companies. Born in Zambia, Murphy moved to SA in 1965, and is married, with two daughters and three step-sons.
