Go out and see them at work. 3. Build relationships with your service providers and suppliers alike. 4. Don’t just take the cheapest option – look further than rates. You will at times have to pay a premium price for the right logistics. 5. Liaise with your client and have a clear understanding of their requirements. Make sure your logistics speak directly to these requirements. 6. Communication with all the various stakeholders is crucial. 7. Know the logistical process for your product inside out. 8. Understand the requirements of the various countries you are importing to or exporting from. It will make it easier to deal with challenges or complications as and when they arise. 9. Always have back-up insurance and plans in place – minimise the risk as much as you can.
